Having Trouble Staying On Program

Hi Everyone,

I’m having trouble staying on program as the title of my latest blog post says.  This past week I had a couple of good on program days and the rest of the days of this past week I was off program.  Like today I didn’t track at all because I left my Weight Watchers materials at home.  I know that wasn’t an excuse to not track but I didn’t know what else to do.

I do have some issues that need to be looked into.  One I hurt my left ankle three weeks ago and I can’t put too much weight on it or else it’ll hurt.  So I can’t jump around too much but I can still walk.  The problem with walking is that I can’t seem to fit it into my schedule.  I have this 70 year old male friend who likes to give me rides all over the place and when I try to walk somewhere he seems to stop me while I’m walking and tells me to get in his car so it’s hard for me to say no I’d rather walk but I’m going to stand up to him tomorrow that’s for sure.  I want to lose weight and I can’t do that if I don’t start exercising.

Another issue is the 8 Good Healthy Guidelines.  I can’t seem to fit them in either.  The ones I have trouble with are the 2 tsp. of healthy oil, limit sugars, choose whole grain foods and eat 5 servings of fruits and vegetables(I don’t like salads so that’s out of the question).  I also have trouble getting in my 2 servings of milk/dairy products and my 6 glasses of water.  I take a multi-vitamin with my medications so I never forget that so I’m doing good with that one.

So those are my two issues.  Hopefully I’ll have a loss to report tomorrow but if I don’t I won’t get discouraged I’ll just get back on the wagon.

That’s all for this blog post.  Until next time have a great rest of your night.

Maggie

    Thanks for blogging your issues.

Why not address one issue at a time? In regards to exercise, you’re pretty much limited to what you can and can’t do until your ankle heals. Can you attend a water aerobics class? It’s less stressful on the body.

I’d say until your ankle heal, attack your eating issue. Start by making small changes. It would be overwhelming to make too many changes at once. How about start with elminating fast food for a week? What about everyday use less sugar or salt on your food? What about adding water and eliminating sweet drinks like soda?

I find that making small changes works for me. For example, right now I’m starting to cut out Splenda from my diet. I used to use one with my coffee and one with my yogurt. I’m trying to get in down to 2 splenda a week; I may use more but that’s my goal and it’s attainable.

    Good luck!

Hey i do weightwatchers too and i know what you mean when you leave the materials at home! What i do is just write everything doen on scrap of paper and then work out th points when i get home. That way if it turns out im over i can rein it in the next day.

    Good luck keep at it!

Both Nancy and Louise are on the right track. Just make one small change to your diet this week. Then add another change next week and so on.
Remember every journey begins with but a single step.
As for finding time to walk, why not try walking in place. When I do laundry, I march in place while I’m folding. Any time I find myself with a few extra minutes, I march in place. You’ll be amazed how many times you have a few extra minutes that add up.
